Tucked away on the corners of Ponahawai and Punahoa streets, a nondescript building is a hidden gem. Located adjacent to the Farmer’s Market and opposite the Wailoa State Park, you will find the Pakalana Inn, Architect Neil Erickson’s very personal special project. Lovingly restored full of character and personality, it is a tropical sanctuary with whirring fans and the sounds and scents of Hilo’s own Farmers Market directly behind you. The fragrant smells of ginger and gardenia occasionally wafting through the air, triggering memories, perhaps of moonlit romance. Globes of succulent fruit await the artist, the seeker of health, the lover of nature, the gourmand, or all of the above.
Hilo is a place to recreate yourself, refresh, relax and slow down in the tropic langour. A place beloved by King Kamehameha. A time warp. An adventure.
We welcome you to spend time with us at Pakalana Inn. Come and experience the Hilo adventure for yourself and create memories that will last a lifetime.
